How Can I Help?

In any emergency, or where there is an immediate threat to life or property, ALWAYS dial 9-1-1

See Something, Send Something

(Android and iPhone Mobile Phone App)

The new "See Something, Send Something" campaign encourages New Yorkers to report suspicious activity through a simple mobile app on their smart phone. The app allows anyone to capture suspicious activity as a photo or written note and send the information to the New York State Intelligence Center. From there, the tip will be reviewed and if relevant, sent to the appropriate SCPD command or outside Law Enforcement agency.

*The app does not replace 911 and should not to be used for someone needing immediate police action.

Tips can also be reported via telephone call to the New York State Terrorism Tips Hotline at 1(866)-SAFE-NYS or 1(866)723-3697. All calls are Toll Free and will remain strictly confidential.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers

The public is the greatest resource the Suffolk County Police Department has to prevent and solve crimes. Tips or information regarding crimes and drug dealing can be anonymously submitted in a variety of ways and tipsters can receive rewards of up to $5,000.

By Telephone: Dial 1-800-220-TIPS

By Mobile App: The P3 app can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play by searching P3 Tips.

By Email: Visit www.p3tips.com

All calls, emails and messages will be kept confidential.
Crimes in progress should be immediately reported by dialing 911 and suspicious activity can be reported to 631-852-COPS(2677)

Thank you for assisting the Suffolk County Police Department.

1(631)852-NARC (24 Hour drug hotline)

To fight drug abuse in Suffolk County, a new tip hotline has been created for residents to report suspected drugs sales and drug activity in their neighborhoods. Residents are encouraged to call anonymously to 631-852-NARC to report information about drug dealers within their communities. That information will be vetted by a member of the Criminal Intelligence Unit and then dispersed to either Narcotics Unit detectives or precinct personnel depending on what information is reported.

Tipsters who provide information leading to arrests will be entitled to cash rewards thanks to a partnership with Suffolk County Crime Stoppers. Tipsters may remain anonymous even if they wish to receive a reward. The new hotline will be staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to accept information.

"If you see something and say something, the Suffolk County Police Department will do something about it."

Neighborhood and Business Watch

Neighborhood Watch is one of the oldest and most effective crime prevention programs in the country, bringing citizens together with law enforcement to deter crime and make our communities safer. The idea behind a neighborhood watch is to educate private citizens on how to recognize and report suspicious activities while promoting better community relations. NW members serve as extra eyes and ears for the police and channel information between neighbors and law enforcement officials in their combined efforts to prevent crime.

Business Watch mirrors the Neighborhood Watch concept but with a commercial focus. Participating businesses, sometimes in conjunction with community groups, take systematic steps to reduce opportunities for crimes in and around business locations. It includes training business personnel to be the eyes and ears for the police in reporting crime, suspicious activities, robbery and burglary prevention, self-protection and operation identification.

Both watch programs work because they reduce opportunities for crime to occur and don’t rely on altering or changing the criminal’s behavior or motivation. An active watch brings safer streets, businesses and homes, community spirit, camaraderie with residential and commercial neighbors and stronger relationships with law enforcement. The best deterrents to crime are observing and reporting suspicious activity. By getting involved and working with the police, you are effectively helping them help you.
