Free Training Opportunities
The Homeland Security and Criminal Intelligence Bureau is now offering free security related seminars for businesses and organizations in Suffolk County. The following seminars can be scheduled by contacting the Homeland Security office:
Active Shooter - Seminars are individually designed for management, staff or general audiences. Seminars can be tailored to a time frame of 45 to 90 minutes in length and are designed to inspire discussion and offer suggestions for improvements in critical incident planning.
Bleeding Control Basic (B-Con) - Designed for civilians to learn how to recognize and control life-threatening bleeding associated with massive wounds before EMS arrives. This course is associated with DHS's national "Stop the Bleed" campaign. The course is delivered by SCPD's Medical Crisis Action Team (MEDCAT) and Stony Brook University Hospital Trauma Center.
Safety in the Sanctuary - Designed for houses of worship, our Active Shooter seminar is modified to meet unique challenges faced by religious centers.
Vulnerability Assessments - In an effort to promote public safety, the SCPD is offering to all residents and business owners a security survey or review of your security plans. This service is designed to help identify security issues in your home or business.
